Who we work with
Public sector organisations where the stakes are real.
We work exclusively with public and third sector organisations — because that focus makes us better at what we do. The legal landscape, the political pressures and the public accountability are things we already understand.
Sectors we serve
Local authorities
Our primary focus. Borough, district and county councils face the highest FOI and SAR volumes of any public authority — and the most complex processing environments. We know how councils are structured, how decisions are made and what the monitoring officer and legal team need to see in a response.
Housing associations & registered providers
Not subject to FOIA but carrying significant UK GDPR obligations. Tenant data is sensitive. SAR volumes from residents in dispute can be substantial. DPIA obligations arise frequently around housing management systems and partner data sharing.
Multi-academy trusts & schools
Subject to FOIA since 2020 and processing some of the most sensitive categories of personal data — children’s educational records, SEND information and safeguarding data. Often without dedicated IG resource.
NHS bodies & primary care
High-sensitivity processing environments. SAR volumes are significant and the data involved is often voluminous. DSP Toolkit obligations, clinical system DPIAs and the 72-hour breach window require specialist expertise.
Charities & voluntary sector
UK GDPR applies regardless of size or income. Charities frequently process sensitive beneficiary data and are consistently underserved for specialist IG support.
Why these organisations choose us
- • No learning curve. We do not need briefing on what a Section 50 notice means, how the 20-day FOI clock runs or why the IT team needs careful handling on a SAR search request.
- • We write responses that close things down. Vague, legally cautious language invites internal reviews. Plain, well-reasoned responses do not.
- • We understand the internal dynamics — elected member pressure on sensitive FOIs, legal team risk appetite on borderline exemptions, finance team slowness on purchase orders.
- • Flexible engagement designed around public sector procurement realities — retainer, project or overflow capacity as needed.
Credentials
CIPP/E certified — the IAPP’s internationally recognised qualification for data protection professionals. LLB Law — the legal foundation behind every exemption decision and compliance judgement. 10+ years in local government IG — including senior roles at two large metropolitan councils. ICO registered · professionally indemnified · all work under formal confidentiality agreement.
Retained support
A monthly arrangement covering an agreed volume of requests and advisory time. Predictable cost, consistent support, one named contact. Right for organisations with ongoing need and regular volumes.
Project basis
A defined scope, fixed fee and clear timeline. Health checks, full DPIAs, ROPA builds and policy reviews. Quoted before work begins — no open-ended billing.
Overflow & surge capacity
Called in when your team cannot cover the volume — a sudden increase, a team member on leave, or a complex matter requiring specialist input you do not have in-house.
